Today, the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals Programme announces four new contributors committed to the Programme’s vision of widespread implementation of sustainable chemistry to protect consumers, workers and the environment.

The four companies are:

  1. ADEC Innovations, a pioneer in environmental, social and governance (ESG) solutions that create positive social and environmental impacts.
  2. Lanzhou Ketian New Materials Co., Ltd, a leading supplier of Chinese waterborne synthetic leather.
  3. PrimeAsia Leather Corporation, a manufacturer of high quality lifestyle and sports inspired leathers for the global branded footwear, apparel and leather goods .
  4. Stahl Holdings BV , a leading company in process chemicals for leather products and performance coatings.

The ZDHC Programme’s goal is to harmonise standards across the textile and footwear value-chain to support safer chemical management and through its six area of focus, works to achieve this.

“Standard setting, collaborative implementation and industry engagement are all key to driving the success of the programme forward,” says ZDHC Executive Director Frank Michel.

“We’re encouraged to see growing support for our work because one brand or supplier cannot achieve this alone.”

A key component of the ZDHC Programme is its manufacturing restricted substances list (MRSL), hailed as an industry milestone, which restricts the use of hazardous chemicals used across the manufacturing process.

Stahl Holdings BV, one of the new listed contributors, released a statement earlier this week endorsing the ZDHC MRSL and encouraged other industry actors to do the same. “It's our responsibility to lower the environmental impact of our work,” it said.

The ZDHC Programme began in 2011 initiated by six leading brands and now consists of 22 signatory brands, 11 value chain affiliates and four associates. Learn more about the ZDHC Programme here.
