ZDHC & CNTAC Announce Joint Conference on Hazardous Chemical Control & Sustainable Manufacturing
09/16/2016
On November 8, the ZDHC Foundation and the China National Textile & Apparel Council will host a joint conference aimed at suppliers within the textile and footwear value-chain to promote safer chemical management.
The ZDHC Foundation oversees the implementation of the ZDHC Programme, a collaboration of over 20 leading brands committed to eliminating hazardous chemicals from the textile and footwear value-chain. CNTAC is an industry federation which represents all textile related industries in China.
Earlier this year, the two organisations announced a strategic collaboration along with the commencement of CNTAC’s Chemicals Stewardship Initiative 2020, a cross-industry policy framework for the textile industry aimed at minimising the adverse effects of chemicals on human health and the environment.
The joint conference will be held on November 8 in Shanghai and provide key information for suppliers to learn more about the ZDHC Programme and how to implement its standards and tools. It will also feature presentations from thought-leaders and provide interactive question and answer sessions.
“We’re excited to be welcoming up to 1000 participants from across the textile and footwear value-chain,” says ZDHC's Executive Director Frank Michel.
“Participants will leave with a greater understanding of some of the challenges of hazardous chemical control and gain practical insights on how to overcome these.”
The conference will contain both English and Chinese presentations and these will be simultaneously translated.
