The ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines have been updated to Version 2.2 (WWG V2.2), and will be implemented on the ZDHC Gateway starting 1 November 2024. This article outlines key changes you need to be aware of for data processing, reporting, and compliance.
Transition Period and Uploading Data:
- Wastewater samples taken before 31 October 2024 can be reported per WWG V2.1 before 30 November 2024.
- Samples taken from 1 November 2024 onward must be uploaded per WWG V2.2 and the new EDR file must be used by the lab.
- Any wastewater test reports uploaded from 1 December 2024 on the ZDHC Gateway must be per WWG V2.2.
ZDHC Approved Laboratories:
- ZDHC Approved Wastewater Laboratories approved for WWG V2.1 do not need re-approval for V2.2.
Key Changes in WWG V2.2:
- Single Limit Parameters: Some parameters, such as Dissolved Oxygen, now have a single limit, unlike the majority of conventional, metal, or anion parameters that have multiple limits. For these parameters, achieving the single limit qualifies the result as "Aspirational".
- Sample Date Rule: Samples collected before 1 November 2024 cannot be tested against the new guidelines. Uploading such data will result in failure.
- Sludge Pathways: For suppliers using Sludge Pathways A, B, or C, passing results will depend on the documentation or license uploaded as supporting evidence. Once uploaded successfully, the supplier will receive a pass for sludge testing, which will be reflected in the ClearStream report.
Other Important Process Changes for Laboratories:
- Mandatory OA Number: Starting 1 November 2024, the Onsite App (OA) Number will be a required field in the EDR for samples dated on or after this date. The OA Number will also appear in the ClearStream Report (PDF) and on the Wastewater Laboratory Tests Page.
- Discharge Type Modifications: ZDHC Approved Wastewater Labs can no longer independently modify a supplier's discharge type on the Gateway. Any such requests must be submitted to support@zdhc.org for review. This ensures data integrity and minimizes impact on historical data. When requesting discharge type changes, please include relevant documentation like supplier name, location, and ZDHC AID to support the need for modification.
